'TIS THE SEASON
(TO HELP OUT OTHERS) The Yuletide spirit has begun to bloom across northern Ohio. Several gay bars have either held or are planning special events to benefit those who are less fortunate..
The first annual all night barathon was held at the Outpost in Warren on December. 4 for the benefit of St. Jude's Children's Hospital. (See photos accompanying this article). By the time they closed at 8 a.m., the next morning, $1006 had been accumulated by donations at the door, donations from the patrons of the Camel Lot Complex II and Troubadour Lounge, and donations to the performers.
All the people who entertained that night worked for free and donated all their tips. to St. Jude's Hospital also. Barbara Shargo coordinated acts from Warren, Youngstown, Akron, Canton, and Sharon Pa. The benefit was overwhelming success with the bar remaining packed until 5:30

In Toledo this Sunday, Dec. 12 The Rustler will hold a Toys for Tots Party where they will be collecting toys and money for the local Toys for Tots program. A free hot buffet will also be served.
On December 16 The American Disco in Akron will be sponsoring their third annual "Slave" Auction with proceeds going to the Akron Salvation Army and their Save A Christmas Fund." Last year the American patrons provided the second largest contribution of the entire program. "This year," says owner Steve Skrobot, "we hope to do much better."
Before you get the wrong idea. about this "slave" auction, the slaves are under no obligation to the purchaser other than talking and/or drinking with him during the hours of that evening.
Entry applications for potential "slaves" are available through the afternoon on December 16.
